We moved Summer into her dorm room and when I arrived home I had a package from LaJeanell, a new Indie Brand of cosmetics that are dual-purpose, healthy, vegan, and sustainable. LaJeanell is not affiliated with The Age of Beauty, and we were not compensated for this post. We were asked to consider LaJeanell for our next article featuring clean, vegan cosmetic products. They were kind enough to send us a sample of their products, so I am able to offer an honest review and help spread the word about this woman-owned cosmetic line.

Shirley Powell, the founder of LaJeanell, like many of us, was in search of quality makeup that was health conscious. Shirley was ready to take on the challenge of bringing her vision to life. She had represented two high-end luxury cosmetics companies and was a model with 40 years of business experience.
Shirley’s vision included creating quality skincare solutions. She desired to design a great selection of natural and organic makeup that includes anti-aging components. Shirley insisted on health-conscious ingredients saying, “The fact is, toxic chemicals are not your friend. 60% of everything we put on our skin goes into your bloodstream in 30 seconds,”.
Being an entrepreneur, Shirley partnered with laboratory scientists and doctors to formulate high-quality, natural skincare and beauty regimes. LaJeanell strives to provide clean beauty through quality ingredients.
You can learn more about Shirley and LaJeanell at their website:

“Our quality makeup products are great for sensitive skin as they are made with organic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and natural healing properties,” Shirley says. “Our cosmetic line is made with the highest quality ingredients, and are vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance and preservative free. Each product is free of synthetics, parabens, formaldehyde, and phthalates.”
“LaJeanell brings our customers easy-to-use high-quality beauty regimens complete with premium products,” Shirley adds. “Experimenting with your makeup can enhance your confidence and empower your inner beauty.”

When I looked over the LaJeanell website, I was happy to find their skincare products lead with an SPF 55 sunscreen. Sun protection has been so important for me, as I have very fair skin. Because I have avoided the sun, my skin has less lines and damage then would be expected for my age. The skincare also has a cream, a serum and a retinol treatment. I am a fan of serums and have found retinol to be helpful with improving the texture of my skin. I have not tried LaJeanell’s skincare line, but the type of products they offer and the ingredients they use stay true to their committment of quality, health, and anti-aging properties. They are designed for all skin types, sets start at $119.
I did get to review their cosmetic line. They have multiple suggestions of ways to wear the line to achieve looks that are timeless and classic. There aren’t any photos of models other than Shirley, so I can’t tell if the pigments would work for women of every skin color. I would suggest contacting LaJeanell if you are unsure if a color will work for you. You can check out their suggestions for how to achieve various looks:

The first product I tried was the multi-purpose color stick in Autumn Leaves. This peachy shade can be used on eyes, cheeks and lips. I applied with clean fingers, and found the texture to be matte, not waxy, it felt like pure pigment going onto my skin. I put a little translucent powder on my eyelids, and that helped it to stay on longer. The color lasted most of the day, and I am in 90 degree humid weather. I would say it has the staying powder of almost a powder, with a little creasing on the eye area.
For my lips I mixed the nude lip liner pencil, with the multi-pupose color stick. I also placed the Moonlight Lume Luminizer in the center of my lower lip for a pouty look.

The Luminizer was also placed in the corner of my eyes, as a highlighter on my cheek, brow bone, and cupids bow. The Luminizer has a soft texture, is easy to blend and does not highlight my fine lines. It gives a soft glow to my skin and wore very well.
I finished my look with LaJeanell’s Natural Organic Mascara in Dramatic Lashes Black. It is also dual purpose and can be used on the brows. However, it only comes in one color and black is too dark for my brows. As a mascara it is impressive. It was buildable, created long lashes without any clumps. It wears well without flaking onto the skin.
All in all, I was happy to find out about LaJeanell Cosmetics and to share them with you. They offer vegan, organic, and gluten free products. If you are looking for a luxurious, health focused, anti-aging line, give LaJeanell a try.
Wishing you all good things! Your friendly Make-Up Maven (who is missing her daughter),
Ellen
